health insurance with Vodacom Tanzania has given 600 mothers and babies at the Mwananyamala, Amana, and Temeke regional referral hospitals in Dar es Salaam a full year of comprehensive health insurance coverage.

Just a few days after President Samia Suluhu Hassan signed the Universal Health Insurance bill into law, which will make it easier for Tanzanians of all economic backgrounds to access healthcare services, Chief Medical Officer of Mwananyamala Regional Referral Hospital Dr. Zavery Benela stated over the weekend that the donation comes at the perfect time.

“Mothers’ and newborns’ health is impacted by this donation,” he stated. health insurance with Vodacom claims that the insurance coverage given to expectant mothers and babies is a component of the company’s ongoing holiday promotion, “Sambaza Shangwe, Gusa Maisha.”

“This group frequently experiences early-stage illnesses, which puts a financial strain on many families that cannot afford medical expenses,” Dr. Benela stated. The Vodacom campaign began last month and is anticipated to run through the middle of January of the next year.

In addition to giving love gifts to both customers and non-customers, the primary objective is to honor Vodacom’s loyal consumers. The donation has already been received in Mbeya, Zanzibar, and Dodoma, with 2,000 mothers and children likely to benefit nationwide.

Ms. Sharifa Abdallah, one of the recipients, expressed her gratitude for being one of the people who received free health insurance coverage for a full year for both mother and kid.

One of the beneficiaries, Ms Sharifa Abdallah, said she was fortunate to be among the recipients of the free health insurance coverage for a whole year for both mother and child.

Oftentimes, health issues arise when I don’t have any savings hence, I’ve had to either borrow money from neighbors and relatives or sell my household items,” she said.

The Acting Executive Head of the Dar es Salaam and Coast Region at Vodacom Tanzania  Mr George Nyanda said maternal health has always been close to Vodacom’s heart hence creating the digital insurance product—VodaBima.

“Through this campaign, we not only hope to raise awareness on the essence of medical insurance coverage but also demonstrate that medical insurance is for everyone not just the privileged few like many believe,” he said.

“With this campaign, we hope to not only raise awareness about the importance of having health insurance, as many people believe but also to show that health insurance is available to everyone, not just a privileged few,” the spokesperson stated.
